如果你沒有找到第一拍,你就不知道後面怎麼切分,或是拍子不穩了 - 有關Funky Bass Groove與完整的理解

又是個一針見血回答問題的時刻:

問:「老師我想請問一下
這是我們學習舞蹈時一開始認識Funk Groove都會看的影片
但是為什麼要一直強調"the one"呢?」

答:「因為如果你沒有找到第一拍,你就不知道後面怎麼切分,或是拍子不穩了

你必須要聽懂他講完The One之後的解釋與示範」

這就是我講的「語言障礙」,你外文不需要很溜,但是如果你外文的理解能力是片面的,得到的資訊就是片面的,在台灣學或出國學都一樣。

因為我講的,跟Bootsy Collins在影片裡頭講的,是同一件事。



This is what I called the "Language Barrier" when you learn Western music. One local student/reader asked me why Bootsy kept saying "the One".

Well, instead of telling him James Brown said so (I think he even didn't know that Bootsy Collins worked with JB before and help formulating the Funk), my answer is simple: If you can't stand on "the One", then you don't know how to syncopate the rest of the bar or beats.

And that's exactly Bootsy said in the clip. "Language Barrier" made the student/reader only got the message of "the One" but didn't catch the rest.
