Jazz Standards如《Someday My Prince Will Come》、《My Favorite Things》、《Alice In Wonderland》、《The Boy Next Door》等都是系出百老匯歌舞劇的華爾滋三拍歌曲;爵士鋼琴大師Bill Evans喜歡演奏的《Waltz For Debby》、《Emily》、《Very Early》、《How My Heart Sings》等,總是洋溢著一種優美溫柔卻又活潑慧黠的氣質;爵士樂名曲《All Blues》、《Footprints》、《Bluesette》、《Windows》、《Afro Blue》等都需要獨特的律動感受才能演得好演得巧...
Yuki Arimasa

Japanese Jazz Piano Master Yuki Arimasa's 2026 Taiwan International Jazz Workshop: After a year's absence, he makes time in his busy schedule to return to Taiwan for a single performance on January 9th!
Theme: “The Mystery of ‘3’ - Mastering Swing Triplets in Jazz and Black Music Classics: 3/4, 6/4, 6/8, 9/8, 12/8, and More Through the Historical Roots of American Music”
Jazz standards like “Someday My Prince Will Come,” “My Favorite Things,” “Alice In Wonderland,” and “The Boy Next Door” all originate from Broadway musicals as waltz-tempo songs; Jazz piano master Bill Evans' beloved pieces like “Waltz For Debby,” “Emily,” “Very Early,” and “How My Heart Sings” radiate an elegantly tender yet lively and witty spirit; Jazz classics like “All Blues,” “Footprints,” “Bluesette,” “Windows,” and “Afro Blue” demand a unique rhythmic sensibility to be performed with skill and finesse...
Mr. Yuki Arimasa explains that the triple meter plays a crucial role in American music's evolution and lineage. It must be understood through the lens of European classical and folk music's major and minor triplets, while also mastering the unique African rhythmic “Feel & Counting” of triple-division polyrhythms. Chi-pin and Kai-ya have consistently dedicated themselves to teaching this distinctive rhythmic approach in Taiwan. Moreover, numerous examples exist where elements from diverse African-American genres like Soul and R&B have been absorbed and applied within Western, Japanese, and Korean popular music. Thus, this workshop promises immense practical value, guiding you through demonstration performances and structured instruction to unlock the rhythmic codes!
Each year, three veteran jazz educators exchange visits between Tokyo and Taipei for lectures and experience sharing, connecting with music students across Asia. Mr. Yuki Arimasa, an internationally renowned jazz educator himself, will once again impart his years of accumulated wisdom and offer generous guidance from his rich experience! Having visited Taiwan multiple times, Mr. Arimasa deeply understands the needs of Taiwanese students. Local teachers Chi-pin Hsieh and Kai-ya Chang will provide simultaneous translation and demonstrations on-site. This time, you don't need to fly abroad to stay in sync with the international scene!
